Our Facility

The Historic Overlook House, a handsome brick and stucco Tudor residence built in 1927 sits on top of more than one acre of landscaped beauty. Located in the Overlook neighborhood, with views of the Willamette River and the West Hills, the mature trees and shrubs provide a screen for a more intimate setting. The back yard is lined with perennial gardens.

   A rose covered trellis creates a focal point for a romantic outdoor wedding or reception in summer or early fall. The Overlook House is a perfect venue for your wedding, reception, anniversary party, business retreat or any special event that deserves a beautiful and unique setting, in the heart of the city but off the beaten path.

      The house and grounds are adaptable for indoor or outdoor events. Furniture and rooms can be arranged to fit your needs. Chairs, tables, dishes and silverware are available for your guests, along with a full and cozy kitchen for food preparation, do-it-yourself or by your caterer.

Capacity:

Capacity for indoor events is 75; outdoor, 150.
The house is an air-conditioned, nonsmoking facility, perfect for all seasons.
The grounds and first floor of the house are wheelchair accessible with an ADA bathroom facility.

Catering:

You are welcome to bring in your own caterer, peruse our list of vendors, or do it yourself. Please let us know ahead of time who your vendors will be and a general time line for your event. This will help our staff attendant to be aware of some of your needs.

Furnishings:

The Historic Overlook House is a blank canvas on which you can create your event masterpiece. It comes equipped with an assortment of features: chairs, tables, dishes, silverware, coffee makers, punchbowls and more.

Multipurpose Room

Music:

All contracts

Please respect that the Overlook House is located in a residential neighborhood. Loud music will jeopardize our relationship with the community.

DJs/Bands/Musicians must sign Overlook House Music Contract prior to event.

DJs/Bands/Musicians that abuse our useage rules will not be allowed back.

Music cannot be audible beyond the Overlook House grounds.

Outside Dance Music (90dba) must cease outside at 9:00 p.m.

Last dance announcement no later than 8:55pm.

Light background Music (70 Dba or less) is permitted outside until 10pm.

Music is permitted inside until 10:00 pm. Dancing INSIDE is permitted only in the Multi-Purpose-Room, or basement. The basement is available if the $100 additional basement fee is paid for in advance.

Alcohol:

Alcohol is permitted with proof of a licensed OLCC server and host liquor liability insurance. Only the OLCC licensed server(s) can pour the alcohol. See contract for more details.

Kitchen:

Functional, warm and cozy full kitchen with stove, refrigerator and dishwasher will accommodate all your needs for your upcoming event.

Your Rental Time:

During your event a staff attendant will be at your service for the duration of your event to answer questions, clarify policies and deal with emergencies. For weddings, it's best to assign a reliable and knowledgeable contact person who is not a part of the ceremony, to work with the attendant.
Your paid rental time includes the set up and break down of all decorations and furnishings for your event. Including those belonging to the Overlook House, anything you rent from outside vendors and your own items.
We require you to return the house furnishings back as you found them, remove all your trash and recyclables to the dumpster and take all your belongings with you.

Equipment rented from outside vendors such as chairs, tables, dishes, linens etc., should be stacked in the back of the house, off the grass, and ready for the rental company to pick up by 9am the following morning.
